THE FULL NAME OPTION

The full name option is presented in Yuffie’s main menu (in the primary room). Not only does it enable you to change the first names of the group’s characters, it also increases your defense and magical defense points—two statistics that are normally limited (and depend almost entirely on the armor a character dons). Under the “equip” sub-menu, you will find that the names of your character’s accessories are transformed into gibberish, as are the names of their armor and weapons if you attempt to change them. The surprising consequence of this is that your characters become practically invincible.

In fact, this option gives you an invulnerability that is much like Sephiroth’s, as evidenced in the Nibelheim flashback—except that it is much better. Attacks against your characters miss ninety-five percent of the time. Otherwise, they add to your HP instead of taking them away! The biggest disadvantage is that you must avoid all heal spells. This is because the heal spells wind up causing damage! Even more disabling, and yet amusing to experiment with, is the White Wind enemy skill: instead of your enemy restoring his HP and curing himself of fifteen different possible states, the spell will inflict each of these states, along with damage, all at once. In other words, the full name option consists of completely reversing each action’s effect. You can use it against the Weapons without further delay.
